Twitter has become one of the major social networks and one very useful way for you to promote your business. How is this accomplished? Well, most people believe that having a certain number of followers–over 100,000, perhaps?–is the key to success using Twitter. If you send a post to 100,000, the logic says, you will definitely reach at least a few people who will be interested in your product. Is this correct thinking?
Blogger Daryl Tay at Unique-Frequency.com says no, there is no one right way to use Twitter. There is a right way for your followers to decide if they will follow you. That is, if they are interested in what you are tweeting about. Tay asserts that there is no way to guarantee a ton of followers. As long as you are using Twitter for what you need to use it for, your followers will decide to follow, or not. Now, what about those 100,000 followers we were aiming for? Well, if they are not interested in what you have to say it is better that they don’t follow you rather than stick around and have no interest in you. Tay writes, “It’s okay to have 100 followers who are right for you than 10,000 who aren’t.”
Once again, the key here is knowing your audience. Know who your potential customers are and how to reach them, either through Twitter or other means.
